Island Stones
Island Stones is a personal view of the archaeology and landscape history of the Outer Hebrides. I am fascinated by what survives of man’s earliest marks on the landscape, and in how those ancient remains lie in relation to subsequent layers of human settlement.
The project was conceived in 2016. It was inspired by my attendance at an Art and Archaeology Summer School, run by the University of the Highland and Islands, on North Uist. It has evolved during subsequent visits to the Outer Hebrides, in 2018 and 2019. I look forward to returning soon.
